Adept

She called so adept in deception,
cloaked as she was in adorability
and invited me to party at grandma's.
Like a fool, like a fool, I believed!
Dressing and showering and driving,
I found myself outside the door,
but where were the guests?
Where was the pony ride?
Why don't I see any gifts?
'Twas a ruse, such a ruse!
And I've not an excuse,
to be tricked by my three year old niece!
